Journal Submissions

How to submit an article or letter to the journal editors.

We welcome letters and articles for consideration by the journal editors. Before submitting, please keep the following in mind:

Editing

  • Accepted pieces may be edited for publication, which can include shortening the overall article.

Confidentiality

  • Protect the anonymity of anyone named or described in your writing by changing identifying details sufficiently.
  • Wherever possible, seek the permission of the people concerned before submitting.

Text and images

  • Send text electronically — as a Microsoft Word file or typed directly into an email.
  • Send photographs and scans as separate files rather than embedded in the document.
  • Supply images as good-quality JPEG or TIFF files at a resolution suitable for print (at least 200 dpi at final size).
  • Diagrams are usually redrawn in the journal’s house style, so clear copies are all that’s needed.
  • If you would like us to scan photographs for you, please send original prints rather than home-printed copies.

The full guidance document is available to download, and the editorial team are happy to answer questions via the contact page.
