About the ABMT
The professional forum representing biodynamic massage and its practitioners in the UK.
The Association of Biodynamic Massage Therapists was founded in 1992 — originally as the Association of Holistic Biodynamic Massage Therapists. In spring 2012 the word “Holistic” was dropped from our name to reflect the terminology used across contemporary complementary healthcare.
For more than thirty years the ABMT has provided a professional home for biodynamic massage therapists: setting standards, supporting practice, and representing the profession to the public and to national bodies.
Our aims
- To provide a professional network and forum for our members.
- To promote the benefits of biodynamic massage to the wider public.
- To maintain high standards of practice through our Code of Ethics.
- To represent biodynamic massage therapists with national bodies, including the General Council for Massage Therapies.
- To further the development of biodynamic massage through research and publication.
What membership stands for
Members of the ABMT benefit from networking meetings and CPD events, a listing on our public register for practising members, verification for registration with the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), our twice-yearly journal, and access to professional insurance.
For the public, the ABMT register is a guarantee: every Full Member is qualified, insured, supervised and committed to continuing professional development.
How we are run
The ABMT is run by a volunteer committee of practising members, elected at our Annual General Meeting. You can find the current committee roles on our contact page.
